The Children’s Law Masterclass will focus on advocacy for young people in Queensland. This Masterclass has been designed for solicitors looking to deepen their understanding in a specialised area of practice. You will have the opportunity to engage with our presenters while you are invited to collaborate on a practical case study.
During these workshops you will gain:
1. An update on the current state of play for Youth Justice in Queensland, including recent changes to sentencing principles and practices
2. In-depth analysis dealing with admissions and the admissibility of evidence including how report writing and disclosures made under the Mental Health Act 2016 (Qld) may prejudicially impact the young person
3. A case study, which deals with admissibility issues, advocacy principles and other problems that arise when working with stakeholders of varying levels of legal knowledge.
