Modern Advocate: Substitute Service

Their Honours have designed a core skills session for all practitioners that are required to perform service as a part of their roles.

This event will be designed as a fundamental skill session, with a focus around correct process, procedure and evidence.  The panel will focus on the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 (Qld), and the relevant sections as they relate to service and the rules of evidence (particularly around admissibility). This will be applicable for a substantive law or practical skills point.

Each judicial officer will speak to different aspects of Substitute Service, with solicitors as the core audience in mind, as outlined below:

• Evidence and admissibility
• Impracticable service and ex parte issues
• Form and efficacy of orders
